Back in May 2026, I competed in Cambridge, MA at the Masters World Championships. It was my second competition ever, and met so many wonderful people in person, many of which I had met online.
One of those people was Hugh Smith, former competitive gymnast and co-founder of Adult Gymnastics Retreats. He mentioned that he was starting a podcast (link to their podcast website here) to feature the adult gymnasts of the world and would love to have a chat about my story. Talk about adult gymnastics? I was very much in.
Fast forward to July, I chatted with Hugh and his co-host Jenny Woudenberg. We had an enthusiastic conversation all about how I started, why I stayed, and how The Geriatric Gymnast website is now a vehicle to inspire and motivate adults to take their first steps into the gymnastics world.
