These posts are dedicated to helping us understand why we are often so fearful of trying new things, taking bigger risks, and returning to gymnastics after injury.
Since I started my gymnastics journey, I’ve come to understand that Mr. Lizard is the built-in stopgap between us and imminent doom. Unfortunately, that Lizard Brain can also get in the way of having lots of fun and taking the necessary steps to progress to new levels of skill.
For me, the past 18+ years have been all about figuring out when to listen to the Lizard and when to tell him to go to sleep. This section will give you some insight about what I’ve done to manage the most (over)protective part of our brains and keep myself from curling into a ball from fear and anxiety.
These posts talk about Mr. Lizard
